Debate over a change in alimony laws continues in other states

When couples in Maryland are going through a divorce, there are a number of things to consider. Couples must determine who will take ownership of property, along with child support, child custody and whether or not alimony will be paid. Recently, alimony has been a particularly popular family law topic as debate over whether or not alimony laws should be changed heats up.

Former football player accused of abuse in recent divorce filing

Every couple that divorces, whether in Maryland or elsewhere, does it for a variety of reasons. Sometimes couples find that they no longer agree on important issues, other times couples feel that they have simply grown apart. In some cases, physical or emotional abuse can tear a couple apart. That appears to be one of the reasons behind a recent divorce filing by a former football player's wife.

Can divorce affect your health?

One researcher seems convinced that divorced adults are more likely to die at an early age, but some may disagree. In fact, some may argue that remaining in an unhappy marriage is extremely unhealthy. Others may even argue that a person's quality of life can improve after a divorce.
